Kilt Measurement Guide Our master kilt maker has years of experience in measuring and sizing people.
For most people we need only three measurements: The waist, the seat/hip and the length. The waist is not the trouser waist as the kilt waist is 2" above the "hip-bone". The seat is very easy to measure - simply the widest part of the bottom!
A rough guide to length is

| Trouser Measurement Normally when you buy a pair of trousers you will select the waist and inside leg. Experience has taught us that the best and most reliable way to give us accurate trouser measurements is to get a pair of formal trousers that fit well. Use these as a guide. The inside leg is the starting point - that is the length of the seam from crotch to trouser bottom. Most people will know this accurately - but it is advisable to confirm by measuring!
Genereally we need only four measurements: The waist, the seat/hip, the inside leg and the outside leg - this latter measurement gives us the length and determines how high on the waist the trousers will sit. The waist is not necessarily the "normal "trouser waist as the kilt waist is 2" above the "hip-bone". A pair of Trews will normaly come to your kilt waist. You must measure your waist at the hieight dictated by your outside leg measurement. The seat is very easy to measure - simply the widest part of the bottom!
A fairly standard pair of trousers will have the outside leg 10 inches longer than the inside leg - but hipsters will be less. High waist trews may be 13 inches longer and fishtail trews could be 14 inches longer than the inside leg.
