Can you give me a quote?

You can easily determine this by adding the goods you are interested in to the basket and proceeding to checkout.

This is all visible before you complete any personal details and you can proceed with your purchase or abandon the transaction.

Any appropriate discounts are shown automatically.

Only if you are ordering over a dozen items is it worthwhile asking if there are any special rates available. For instance if we order a 60 metre length of tartan we do get a discount and we would be happy to pass this on.

How much will it cost to send an item?

You can easily determine this by adding the goods you are interested in to the basket and proceeding to checkout.

On the first page of the checkout you are asked to select the invoice location and the shipping destination. On the next page you will see the default shipping charge. If there are alternative shipping options they are shown at the bottom of the page. This is all visible before you complete any personal details and you can proceed with your purchase or abandon the transaction.

Do you have a shop?

No we don't. We are very much an internet based company and are only able to offer such a wide range of products because we don't hold stock. Many items are made to order so would not be stock items anyway.

Why do you have a minimum order?

An online business is very different to a conventional retail outlet.

A conventional outlet normally aims to sell stock items. As such they are restricted by the capacity of the shop to the range of items that they can physically manage to keep on their premises. They will sell goods and reorder on a weekly or monthly basis. They would hope to put through a big enough order to have the goods shipped to them carriage free.

On the other hand we hold as little stock as possible and can offer a full range of goods as we are not restricted by the physical capacity of a shop. However, it does mean that when a customer orders an item, we have to order it from the manufacturer. To speed matters up for our customers we process orders immediately. If we consolidated orders and only ordered up weekly or monthly we would incur extra delay. As a result of processing orders immediately we often incur a small order surcharge and extra postage. For instance an order from two different suppliers would have two sets of postage in and two small order surcharges.

Therefore small orders are very much a customer service and, whilst time consuming, are normally not profitable.
