Argyll Formal Kilt Outfit
This is the formal highland morning dress and is probably the most correct wedding outfit. It is very much the equivalent of the English Morning Coat and would be the correct highland outfit to wear to a daytime investiture at Holyrood or Buckingham Palace. In the strictest sense this is a day outfit - not an evening outfit - just as a Morning Coat (although a tail coat) should not be worn in the evening. Purists would say that it would be incorrect to wear a tartan tie, and a plain grey silk tie or regimental/club tie is probably more correct. Purists would probably also suggest that plain hose rather than diced hose is more correct in the daytime. White or cream hose would have many folk aghast. You will not find a single painting or photo of anyone wearing white hose until the high street shops introduced this concept. Pick any colour from the kilt, or even black - anything but white, cream or ecru!!
